Hey there, I'm DeShawn!

Hello, my name is DeShawn Stewart, but you can call me Doc. My journey from being a doctor to becoming the founder of Doc’s Delights is one filled with service, joy, and a passion for sharing love through food. My heart has always been one of servitude, and it brings me great joy to create delicious gourmet cookies and treats that satisfy the taste buds, warm the heart, and bring joy to the soul.

I’ve been blessed with spiritual gifts of benevolence, shepherding, and evangelism, and Doc’s Delights gives me the opportunity to express those gifts through my baking. It’s a way for me to share God’s love, joy, and kindness with the world.

Before this chapter of my life, I grew up as the youngest of seven in a small town in Parsons, Kansas. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame (Go Irish!) and the University of Kansas School of Medicine (Rock Chalk Jayhawk!), I pursued a career in medicine, eventually becoming a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force. My career took me around the world, supporting missions in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. I served as a physician for the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training Program and worked closely with aviation military personnel, often flying alongside them. I completed my service as a Lieutenant Colonel.

After my military career, I became an emergency medicine physician, where I found a new love for cooking. I started cooking meals for my ER staff to show my appreciation for their hard work. However, it wasn’t until I injured my foot and had to stay still for three months that I truly discovered my passion for baking. I began making cookies for my colleagues, and with their encouragement and belief in my baking, Doc’s Delights was born.

Now, I happily bake cookies and treats that bring joy to others, just as much as it brings joy to me. This is my story, my transition from being a doctor to finding fulfillment in sharing love through baking. I look forward to sharing my passion with you and spreading joy through every bite of Doc’s Delights cookies.
